What to expect at your hearing test

A hearing assessment is more than having your hearing tested. We understand how much of a sensitive issue hearing loss can be, so we like to go the extra mile in ensuring you feel comfortable and listened to.

A friendly welcome:

You can always guarantee a smile when visiting us at Independent Hearing Care. Whether you sit chatting to our reception staff before hand with a cup of tea, or go straight into the consulting room to meet the audiologist; you will always be met by smiling faces who will go above and beyond to ensure you are well looked after. We are all friendly, approachable and keen to get to know you so if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask at any time.

In depth diagnostics:

Our purpose built hearing centre in the heart of Knowle boasts state of the art technology and equipment. We use the latest in diagnostic procedures to ensure the most detailed and accurate results. Once the hearing test is complete, the audiologist will explain all of the results to you allowing you time to ask questions and understand what they mean. The audiologist will then advise on the courses of action available to you.

You can expect to be with us for around an hour to up to an hour and a half when having a hearing assessment. We do not rush these appointments as we understand that hearing loss can be a sensitive issue and want to give you enough time to ask questions and for our audiologist to learn more about you and how best they can help. The hearing assessment is only the start of the journey, we will guide you through, supporting you along the way.

A person centred approach:

Independent Hearing Care believe that helping to hear is about knowing how to listen. Taking a person centred approach, we listen to your needs and feelings tailoring your care to you as an individual. Our audiologists spend time getting to know you and learning about where your hearing loss is affecting you most. The staff enjoy getting to know all of our patients and hearing their stories. We also encourage you to bring a loved one along with you to a hearing assessment so we can gain more of an understanding of your hearing loss from another perspective. It is always good to bring somebody along with you for support and help with absorbing all of the information given.
