LACE Auditory Training

Our ears collect sound but it is our brain that processes and understands the sound that is entering the ear. When hearing loss occurs the auditory pathways in the brain are not adequately stimulated and this can cause a decline in the brain’s ability to process sounds, even with hearing aids.

LACE (Listening and Communication Enhancement) is a home-based, self-paced auditory training program designed to help individuals with auditory deprivation improve their listening and communication skills. It focuses on retraining the brain to better process and understand speech, particularly in challenging listening situations like noisy environments. LACE can be used independently or in conjunction with hearing aids to maximise their effectiveness.
Taking just 15 minutes out of your day, LACE can help to:
- Improve understanding of speech in noisy/challenging environments
- Boost speech comprehension
- Strengthen your cognitive listening abilities
- Feel more confident with conversations in social situations
- Improve your overall communication skills
As person centred audiologists we want to provide you with all of the tools available to help improve your hearing and speech understanding. We want to be able to give you the confidence to join in those important conversations and feel part of those precious moments.
That is why we are proud to offer this training programme as part of your hearing aid rehabilitation package or as a stand alone if you do not need hearing aids.
We will fully support you with your LACE training but its personalised features allow you to progress at your own pace with enough time to practice the techniques and exercises. What is more is that it can all be done in the comfort of your own home at a time most suitable for yourself.
