We have lots of information on our website about ear wax and the method we use to remove it, but we also get lots of questions about how to book an appointment and what is included. Below is a step by step guide from initial telephone booking to leaving at the end with a smile on your face.

You can book an appointment for ear wax removal by calling us or if you submit a webform from our website, we will call you.

During the telephone booking you can ask our knowledgeable receptionists any questions. Some of the most frequent are as follows:

Do I need a consultation before the procedure?

No, we can book you straight in for Micro-suction

Can I have both ears treated?

Yes, an appointment allows for both ears to be treated if needed

How long does it take?

Each appointment is 45minutes long however this does include time for us to sanitise and prepare for the next appointment. The treatment can take up to half an hour 

How much does it cost?

We currently charge £45 for one ear and £75 for both (please note this is true of June 2022. Please ask if there is an update to price when booking)

Do I need to use drops?

No, it is not necessary to use softening drops before your appointment. If you have olive oil you may use a couple of drops the night before your appointment but this is not necessary

Over the telephone we will ask for your name and email address. We will then send you a confirmation email which will include:

• Your appointment details
• Our address and directions including where to park
• Our latest Covid information 
• A link to your pre appointment questionnaire. This includes general questions about your ears and health. This helps the audiologist to prepare for your appointment and ask the relevant questions relating to your answers. 

If you don’t have access to email, don’t worry, we can post the information to you instead. 

When you arrive for your appointment a member of our friendly reception team will greet you and invite you to take a seat in our waiting area. Here you can sit back and relax whilst you wait. 

Your audiologist will then introduce themselves and lead you through into the consulting room and onto the treatment couch. When you are comfortable, the audiologist will go through your pre appointment questionnaire with you and answer any questions you have. They will listen to any concerns you have about your ears and then begin the treatment. 

The treatment will start with otoscopy. The audiologist will have a look in both of your ears and using a video otoscope show you inside your ear canals on the big screen infant of you. They will point out any areas of interest and encourage you to ask any questions. They will then explain the procedure and how Micro-suction works.

When you are happy, the audiologist will start the Micro-suction machine and remove the ear wax.  They will talk you through the whole process, encourage you to ask questions and take breaks if you need them. 

Once the wax is removed they will use the video otoscope once again to show you inside your ear canals. With a clear view, no longer obstructed by wax, they will point out your ear drum and describe the health of your ear canal. They will offer advice on how to keep your ears healthy and recommend how often you should have Micro-suction.
